PATHWAY TO SUCCESS AT WORK

WEM’s Pathway to Success is designed to prepare individuals for future employment. A variety of workshops and assessments have been created to meet the various needs of individuals and where they are at on the Pathway to Success.

GETTING STARTED
This workshop is the first step for individuals moving into our Pathway to Success program. The purpose of this orientation session is to determine placement in the appropriate WEM services as next steps. This group activity is approximately one hour in length and replaces the previously used one-on-one Triage.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS ASSESSMENT (ESA)
This assessment is for individuals who have a specific career goal. It will assess reading, writing, numeracy and document use according to an individual’s chosen career goal. Individuals must be strong in digital technology as this is a computerized assessment which is approximately 3 hours in length.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS INDICATOR (ESI)
This two-day workshop supports individuals returning to work in gaining a clear understanding of their current workplace Essential Skills and abilities, evidence of employability and suitability for potential job opportunities. This will provide a foundation for decision making moving forward to employment.

CAREER LAUNCHER (CL)
This five-day workshop is for people who do not have a clear workplace goal and have either never been in the workplace or have been out of it for a period of time. It will give individuals a clear idea of where their skills are and how they relate to work.

SPEAKING TO THE SKILLS I HAVE
This 2-part workshop will help people prepare themselves for interviews. We will guide individuals in identifying their skills, abilities and attributes and give them the tools to effectively communicate their value to a prospective employer.

COMMUNICATING IN THE WORKPLACE (CIW)
This five-day workshop will help people gain a solid understanding of workplace culture and expectation. It will provide people with a variety of opportunities for workplace relevant skill-building practice that will support them in being successful at work.
